My name is Doug Johnson, and I started InnovationEdge as a consulting company to provide RF & Microwave Component and System Level Design Expertise. I have over 35 years experience in RF & Microwave component design, including 27 years of IC design using HBT, MESFET, pHEMT, and GaN technologies.

Products designed include, but are not limited to, RF & Microwave amplifiers, active mixers, optical receivers, successive detection logarithmic amplifiers, DPD correctable 4 octave amplifiers, CATV amplifiers, and limiters. In all, over 50 designs have been released into production. I have worked extensively with Customers, Marketing, Sales, Packaging, Quality, Modeling, Production Test, FAB and FA Engineering.

Selected Achievements

Started and grew a high margin CATV Line Amplifier Product Line, achieving 99% penetration at a leading CATV equipment manufacture.

Developed the first GaAs CATV Line Amplifier (MESFET).

Designed the first CATV Line Amplifier achieving +76.6dBmV output power (MESFET/GaN).

Designed the highest output DPD CATV Line Amplifier, achieving +78.6dBmV Output Power (pHEMT/GaN/CMOS).

Worked with device engineering to development an extremely linear pHEMT process. 

Designed and brought to production the 1st HBT monolithic Successive Detection Logarithmic Amplifiers (0.5 to 2GHz, 2 to 6GHz).

 Technical responsibility of a 15 IC RF MCM design including more than 90 SMD.   

Managed a 2 to 20GHz Receiver, design to production. 

 Hold 5 design patents, 2 additional design patents have been filed.
